Approximately 20 miles south of Salmon, ID (mile marker 282 of US Highway 93) is the trailhead to Goldbug Hot Springs. Soaking in this natural spring water (which can get as hot as 113 F) makes for a fun and unique outdoor experience.
Goldbug Hot Springs is part of the Salmon-Challis National Forest and is managed by the BLM.
The trail is about 2 miles long (one-way) and climbs over 1,000-ft in elevation.
The first quarter-mile of the trail is on a BLM easement through private land. Respect the property-owner's rights and stay on the trail.
The trail climbs up the canyon along the Warm Springs Creek, which flows into the Salmon River.
The last section of the trail is quite steep. Once you get to the stairs, you are close to the bottom-most pools.
There are several pools to soak in (of various depths and temperatures).
We enjoyed a nice soak in the pools.
If you find yourself in Salmon, ID area, it is well-worth it to make the journey to Goldbug Hot Springs.
