We love going on road trips. There is nothing better than exploring the grand spectacle that is the United States of America. Shortly after we were married, Tara and I took a trip down to Las Vegas. The glitz and glamour of The Strip can be somewhat exhausting so we decided that one day we would escape the crowds and drive a few hours over to Death Valley National Park. I had never been before. It was incredible. Tara and I had already been to Badlands National Park when we went to Mt. Rushmore on our honeymoon. And we were planning to visit some National Parks in California after attending a friend's wedding in the Bay Area later that year. We decided to get the annual pass to save on admission fees. We enjoyed our time so much in Death Valley (and later that year in Sequoia and Yosemite) that we made it a goal to visit ALL 59 National Parks in this great country. Each and every one.
Here we are over 4 years later, and Tara and I have been to 32 National Parks! Some of them have been stays of multiple days (Zion, Acadia), some have just been a quick drive through (Capitol Reef), all of them have been a beautiful, great and enlightening experience. We're over halfway there but we got some tough ones in the future (I'm looking at you Alaska, Hawaii, and American Samoa!) Neither Tara nor I are avid outdoorsmen. We are not super experienced hikers, campers, or backpackers. BUT the National Parks are a great way to experience nature and have some adventure for couch potatoes like us. 😊 I have decided to start this blog to chronicle our adventures in each park, act as a guide on what to see/what to do in each park, what we liked (and maybe what we didn't like), etc. I hope that our readers will come to appreciate the beauty of this country and experience it themselves.
